I gave Love Is Hell away, was hugely dissapointed in it. If I remember correctly Lost Highway his label at the time were also less than impressed refusing to release the album for a long time. Love his earlier solo work though and Whiskeytown.

Agreed. Also Spirit's version of the same track is simply inspired.
The Yardbirds' version of My Girl Sloopy.
The Animals version of Boom Boom (a John Lee Hooker track), poss the best dose of high energy ever recorded.
And I agree with Flying Monkey about Eric Burdon doing River Deep Mountain High.
