I used to lust after a Manta 'exclusive' when I was 18....had to settle for a Nova SR!

I'm a big fan of 80s classics.....heres a couple of mine....

When I were a lad, on my way to school there was a fully kitted out with all the spoilers and stuff and logo'ed up black and gold John Player Special Capri.... not that droolworthy even then, but pretty cool!!!

Funnily enough, I have memories of an uncle, who had a black Manta, taking us on hair-raising but exciting rides around the local streets, some measure above the speed limit.

It wasn't a black Escort MkII was it?

Looking fantastic to awful, when the only thing that has changed is time?

Take off the stupid lights and I still think it's a great looking car. Totally agree on the Audi too.

+1 for the Manta

Mk I/II Escort does something for me too. Seem to be in high demand at the moment as well, judging by Ebay prices.
I'd want a modern engine in it as well. A Ford (Zetec / Duratec) to keep some of the heritage intact.
A car the rally drivers seem to love - and still rally even now.

I had a Lancia Beta...but wanted the Delta.
I saw one in a local garage....all gleaming red, it looked immaculate ;)

Convinced the wife to come and have a look....took a good look round it, till i looked underneath :smile::ohmy:
I swear the top half was immaculate...but the entire floorpan looked as though it would just fall off. Everything below the sills was absolutely ROTTEN.
Ah well....maybe not this one then.
