Is cycling mainly for the younger generation who gradually stop riding as they get into middle age? I am 63, and have been cycling since I learned to ride a 2 wheeler when I was 4. I've only had a brief time away following a back operation. I would be interested to know who has kept the faith.

I rode for transport as a teen/early twenties. Stopped when I had children. Started again in middle age once they were old enough to leave for a couple of hours. Intend to keep going as long as I can.
This seems to be a common pattern amongst cyclists I know.

I feel quite young for this thread at 55

This is not meant to be morbid, but enlightening

Anyone who is in doubt should read the obituaries in the Cyclist Touring Club... the ages are remarkable
