They are very brave, and so relaxed about it too. Mind you, from some angles they look like they're doing about 100mph standing still, so maybe that's the point, a psychological advantage which outweighs the risk of looking like a prat the rest of the time.

It baffles me why the UCI allows different helmets for time trials at all. What if they insisted that a rider wears only one style of helmet throughout the whole of a competition......
The TT specialists would be using vision-impairing helmets on all stages. The effect on a bunch sprint early lead out doesn't bear thinking about.

Controversial maybe, but why not just ban helmets altogether?

Won't somebody please think of the sponsors?!?

Speaking of sponsors - Giro used to rule the roost helmet wise. Now it's just Jumbo in them - so they're the only one with the beluga style TT hats. How did it go so wrong for them ?

I suppose it's good for our options buying from all the different brands.

Wearing 'Go faster' gear seems totally pointless to me, it's not ascribing to the corithianan values of the Olympics, , form over function you might say.
Mind you, in modern Olympic sport, technical advantage is sought ot over pure physical form.
That's to say that at top level sport, nobody appears to be just be themselves against the tape.
I don't even wear a cycle helmet for leisure cycling,it is more about 'fashion' rather asthetics, I do not believe a bowl shape of polystyrene is ever going to do much for you in an accident.
