Looking at the replay,he seemed to hit a gentle bump in the road.All the others had taken the same line so he must have been relaxing his grip and the bump has thrown his front wheel. His glasses were knocked off - hope he didn't catch his head too hard.

Crossed fingers here too. Couldn't really seen what happened, ITV only showed the crash once and my first thoughts were that either the chain had snapped or a pedal had broken. I hope he's ok...

Oh no! He's my absolute favourite pro-cyclist. He is great with his fans at Le Tour.
He was utterly relaxed around the fans, spent time talking, having his photo taken with any and everyone.. had babies perched on the handlebars of his bike when he was warming up on a turbo, so the proud parents could take photos.. he'd sign autographs... smile... and he's a great, strong cyclist. And a complete sweetie.
I hope he makes a swift and full recovery.
