I'm buying based on price and what I get for it. But I take your point about so called sales. I've just bought a kitchen and it is obvious the mark up is so high they can discount to the moon and back and still make £££.

My CAAD8 feels like it makes me better up the hills, a great light and stiff frame.

+1 to lots of practicing with other people though, best way to get better.

I think you always have to be a bit suspicious of items that are heavily discounted. Why is it so much cheaper than the completion? Is it just not a popular make or model? Does it have issues associated with it? Maybe it is a make that is now defunct. I am sure you didn't buy your kitchen from the firm who offered the largest discount.
