When I wanted a new kitchen I casually commented that our original kitchen and bathroom were a bit "tired" and left it at that.

Nope, I always do things like that before she suggests it.
I think she may have realised after 41 years that I am the perfect husband.
We have three and are passed the date of having any more, does not stop us trying though.
