Well, I thought flat bars would be better in traffic, plus I had some Suntour levers already. Then I remembered I had the X-Lite bar ends kicking about, and they actually give me some options for hand positions. I tend to hold them at the point where they clamp onto the bars for normal riding, stretch out when I run out of cadence downhill, and just use the grips when I actually might need to brake.
I'm thinking about getting some drops, but I'll need levers as well, which will probably mean spending another £25...
