Well b***** me I actually liked a video on Facebook. I cycle on the road they were stopping drivers on. Good for Cheshire Police.

Shame about the haters in the comments section.

Yes - but I saw a bike go through a red light the other week which is proof that all cyclists ignore red lights

whereas only a few - really very few, probably less that 1% - of car drivers ever break any law ever
in fact I saw a bloke driving at 27 mph in a 30 mph area the other day so clearly the vast majority of car driver are totally law abiding

and I remember reading about someone killed by a bike last year, or was it the year before, so bicycles REALLY are dangerous

whereas I have never killed anyone in my car so clearly cars are much safer

Hope this helps

An article in today's Gruinard about London cycling and reports upon cyclist RLJers.

No mention of the cars that pip though the same lights as they've just turned red. Wouldnt fit the narrative.

There are always haters in every comments section in FB. Everything is the fault of Starmer or illegal immigrants and life was fantastic 40 years ago.

The outcry in the Wail at the prospect of mandatory speed limiters on cars was a sight to behold.

I was always "interested" in the reasons for a speed limiter set to 80 or 85 being a major safety concern

ones based on the current speed limit on teh road would require the car to know the speed limit
and to be right
which I presume is possible nowdays
but mine certainly gets it wrong a lot - even when I have just updates the map and stuff!

Mandatory speed limiters brought about a marked casualty reduction when they were introduced for trucks. Why anyone things reducing the casualty rate among car drivers is a bad thing is beyond me.

You're forgetting it's all the lawless cyclists jumping red lights, riding like bats out of hell whilst holding up traffic are the problem, not fining upstanding respectable motorists

It interferes with the personal freedom of car drivers

and limits their ability to get out of a problem by accelerating
which is why it is important to drive a big powerful car that can do 0-60 in 3 seconds or less because it is safer

apparently

Theres no scenario where flinging yourself even faster towards danger makes you safer.

Particularly so if everyone is restricted to exactly the same speed anyway.

If any other class of criminal moaned about a tightening of the law they'd be laughed at, yet road criminals...

Sorry, very much preaching to the choir.

Wonder if anyone has ever worked out the percentage of cars that exceed the speed limit by a bit
compared to the number of bikes that jump red lights?

If they have then I can't see it ever appearing in the Daily Fail!

You liked a vid about the police letting crims off with an education session? Let's face it - they all passed the driving test, so should know close passing isn't allowed. What next? Sending axe-murderers off to 'safer woodcrafts' classes?

Indeed. I don't see shoplifters getting the benefit of opting for a "don't go shoplifiting" course to escape the consequences of their offending without sanction.

Yet a sector of society that kills 5 and maims over 80 every day enjoy just that.
