Well yesterday it ticked over to 1 mill views on my channel. Not a lot compared to more popular cyclists on Youtube but I am still proud of getting this far. To celebrate this momentous occasion, I decided to make a special video.

Bearing in mind our own CycleGaz has just over 2 million views, I am happy with being half as popular as him.

Amazed!!!!

My videos aren't popular enough to warrant monetising them so i don't bother.I find the adverts annoying (which is why i run adblock) but for those that don't use adblock i don't allow Google adverts on my videos.

Nice one Matthew

I was going to talk about the opposite - Matthew making money from Google advertising! The going rate can be about £1,000 per million views, which would be a nice contribution towards his car running costs, or maybe a new bike?
That's more than I expected, but google agrees with you. ;) If you look at Matt's channel his two most popular/controversial videos count for the vast majority of his views, which makes me wonder how much money a cycle cammer could make if they went out deliberately looking for tasty content for videos.

I admit to finding them annoying too, but I need money so if I were getting hundreds of thousands of views then I would be trying to get paid for them!

My nephew got over a million views for one video. He had put a backing track on it, but an up-and-coming band got in touch and offered to pay him if he replaced it with one of theirs. I asked how much he got paid and he told me that he did it for just $100 - aaaargh!

If I had monetised every video then I probably would have something like that. As I only started last year on a selection of videos, I have only made £270.
You have to get over a threshold of £60 before you actually get given it though (I am at £57 in June so should be getting more in July then paid this month).

Google probably makes a lot more than me on the videos.

I dont go looking for videos. If I really wanted to, I could very easily get into an arguement with someone which could end up in fisty cuffs. However, I dont want to end up in jail.
My videos seem to be doing fine without adding fuel to the fire. I rarely upload videos as a result. I have plenty which would get views but just dont post them. I am trying to sway away from having a channel filled with videos against drivers, thats why I only post Randoms and Patience series now.

I'm glad you are on the ball!

The infamous 'Charlie bit my finger' video has apparently made well over £100,000 for the family.

I know mate, I'm one of those who views your channel when I have time ;)

All I meant is that if someone (not you) were to go out looking for content for videos, I wondered if with that kind of ad revenue that Colin mentioned they could make some good moneys out of it.

The possibility is there. I am just glad noone has ever put it into effect though (they probably wouldnt be around for long if they did).
