Why, give it a go then come back & say whether it can be done or not. Then I'd be more inclined to take you a bit more seriously. Until then, you're saying it can't be done because you can't do it.
What are you all talking about, I saw this show yesterday where Guy Martin rode at 112 mph... So it would appear that all you need to ride at 40mph for 20 miles are REALLY big sideburns!! (and a truck to pace you the whole way... and a tow rope...)
The most important factor affecting the quality of the commute is clothing and gear . . . my balaclavachanged my life with regard to the winter commute--obviously warm, but the wind noise faded away, allowing me to really enjoy my soundtrack in the winter.
