Is it a short seat-pin or standard length? Presumably lifting it will mean there's not enough in the seat tube?
These might help the highlight marking is where I have the post .

It looks like the post has a section held on with a big bolt hence why it's heavy .

Holy thread resurrection.

Just got this Ian May ready for it's 2026 appearance on the road, it's just completed a 1 mile round the block test ride successfully.

Decided to weigh it unknown tubing alloy forks 23" frame so not too bad.

Biggsy, has that been front-ended? The front tyre is so close to the down tube that I'd be scared to ride it. A bit of fork flex when braking, and you're in the feedback loop of doom. It's - just - ok for a brakeless track bike.

Or the new forks don't have enough offset and the tyre's too big?
