New old stock later levers (with cable adjustment) three speed shifter and Brompton foam grips all fitted this afternoon, a real improvement whilst keeping it looking original.

Also fitted some coloured clamps from my box of bits, these are really difficult to get hold of, Brompton only made them for one year in 2015.

Final modifications to Brompton #7163. Today I fitted some dual pivot calipers off a Mk3 which are night and day compared with the original single pivot brakes, so a very worthwhile modification. The early silver dual pivot nutted calipers are a direct swap, no mods required.

It’s now virtually finished, I fitted a complete later brand new rear triangle as the original was broken around the pivot. I’ve also fitted new mudguards, a Brooks B17, later Mk3 levers and gear shifter, later Brompton foam grips, a frame clip plus new suspension block, Marathon tyres, and now later Mk3 dual pivot Calipers. I just need to get my local dealer to replace the seat insert, as although it works it’s definitely at the end of its life.

I’m really pleased with it, It’s been a big (expensive) project but an enjoyable process, I have tried to keep it looking “factory” hopefully it retains the essence of a Mk2 and still looks original, but rides like a much newer bike. This one I’m definitely keeping. perfect companion for my 2021 S6L!
