I just had 2 random ideas:

The first was inspired by a thread I read, a toaster, where you have to pedal your bike on a turbo to toast the bread.

The second is a turbo alarm clock, where you have to cycle 1 mile on a turbo to make the alarm turn off.

Maybe this will inspire some random company to produce one of these

Love the alarm clock idea, but it must turn off whilst your cycling, would be way too annoying if it kept ringing!
Then if you give up it will start up again

This is already possible - the makers of Bang Goes the Theory were after cyclists in August to show how cycling on a turbo can be used to generate electricity. I've also seen a piece recently on the news where a special bike contraption goes around schools demonstrating the power draw of incandescent and low energy light bulbs.

A toaster (like any appliance converting electricity to heat) draws a lot of power, so it's going to be hard work!

Haha - a bit of a coincidence that the programme I mentioned above was shown today. I had no idea that it was on, until a bit of channel flicking and saw 20 minutes of it.

At one point they said that the power produced was equivalent to 200 miles in 4 hours or something - so would that be equivalent to 8 of me doing a 50 mile/2 hour time trial for that time?

Wouldn't mind one of those little generators either!
