According to my other half 20" Big Apples are not that good (rough translation, I don't want to get banned). So I'm now on the look out for a grippy semi-slick rolling large volume 'comfort'/ I come up with Gocycle/Vredestein F-Lite, everything else seems to be heavily treaded &/or not that grippy.

Pat, thanks for the suggestion however Marathons & Big Apples use the same compound, the source of the problem. The Marathon also uses a heaver carcass making it far less of a comfort tyre than a BA & will exacerbate the issue (Mrs GrasB is so light that the tyres don't grip well on heavily textured road & so her bike slips about).
