It's a 56 size frame meaning it's suitable for someone from about 5'9" to about 6'1". It has only covered around 1200 miles, which is reflected in the general condition. Nonetheless we have spent £150 having some chain damage and a few small blemishes touched up and the whole frame completely re-lacquered. Following the re-lacquer I reassembled it with care, cleaning and re-lubricating everything as I went. I have fitted helicopter tape to protect the RH chainstay and the cable rub areas on the head tube. I waterproofed the top and bottom steering bearings with lanoline as these bikes are built for Californian weather, not British.
Generally speaking the Roubaix is an "endurance" bike meaning it has a slightly more upright position thanks to the longer head tube, so it is comfortable over long distances. It is a very smooth-riding frame and at the same time it's nice and stiff laterally so that it turns in surprisingly well and corners like it's on rails. For anybody who hasn't ridden a good carbon bike it will be a revelation.
The spec is as follows:
Weight is 8.4 kgs. The gearing is an Ultegra Hollowtech chainset with 172.5mm cranks, compact chainrings at 50/34 and an almost new 105 cassette, 10 speed with 11-28, a good setup for hills. The chain is also almost new. The chainset and LH crank have some light scratches as you can see from the pictures.
Brake levers and shifters are 105, the brakes themselves are Ultegra with brand new, unused Shimano brake blocks. The gear cables are new. Front and rear derailleurs are 105. The saddle is a brand-new Specialized Body geometry Toupe.
The wheels are DT Swiss 3.0, which were the original wheels. I fitted different wheels when I rode it so these have only light wear to the braking surfaces, as you can see. In fact the wear is so light that you can still hear the click as the rim joint passes through the brakes; a few wet gritty miles ought to grind the braking surface and stop that. The tyres are brand new unused Specialized Espoir Elite in 23mm width.
We are selling it without pedals but could throw in some used Look Keo or SPD pedals for free. The bike sold for £2,500 but cost me £2,200 new and we are looking for £800 delivered within the UK. We will Ebay it in April but in the meantime I would prefer to sell it locally so that I can deliver it as we once had a bike badly damaged by TNT. I can deliver and wouldn't mind taking it along for someone to test-ride before they made their mind up.
PM for a zip file with more detailed pictures.
Price now £800.00 delivered UK.
