He is a bit good and that average will be higher now after carrying his bat.
The two teams seem quite evenly matched. If we don’t get him out early he could be the difference between the two sides in this series. And we haven’t managed it yet.

There is a bit of a joke amongst the pundits on BT Sport to not use the phrase "the first hour will be crucial" ....but it will be.
Root/Stoneman survive the opening blast from the quicks and I think England are right in the game. But if England find themselves 5 down by lunch it's a win for Australia
My tea leaves say that we are 3 down by lunch and go on to bat all day and post a tough score. Australia decide not to chase on day 5 and match is drawn

Gripping stuff. Steve Smith is in a league of his own at the moment. I saw him bat in an ODI earlier this year and he reached 100 so effortlessly you hardly noticed it. A bit worrying if Moeen has an injury, hopefully he'll be able to get a good rest tomorrow!
England 7 runs ahead with 2 wickets down and the Aussie bowlers doing what they have the potential to do - I think the game for England has gone - for the draw Root and Stoneman have to survive the opening blast - then they and the likes of Malan, Moeen and Bairstow have to take a leaf out of Smith's book and not do anything stupid so that they use up time and get some sort of defendable score
