Every time they hit the Côte de Val d'Enfer (1.6km à 9.7) he'll pull a handful of seconds out of them - there's three times left. Remco might be able to match him, but the others cant, so if Remco wants to keep the group together for the flat (where they don't look all that much help tbh) he'll lose time every ascent. Same as the Worlds.
