I still enjoy watching it happen though (the bit once he has the gap gets boring though)

As I've said before, there's definitely something awesome about it, but the inevitability of it all makes it more like a tragedy you watch unfold. I think it might be worse now because his attacks are mainly seated. If there was that savage burst (like we saw a bit of in MSR) it would at least have the aesthetic of him slaughtering his opponents with a brutal attack. But as it is it just looks like he's just riding faster than they are (his attack today was actually out of the pedals, but lacked savagery, everyone was already on the rivet). If you're that good you have to give us MvdP winning Strade Bianche brutality, not casually waving goodbye.

Well on a personal level, if you've planned your day around watching a major bike race start to finish and he goes from 100km out it is I'm not saying it's the Biafra war or the 2004 tsunami

I don't think they can do much more than choose their parents better. He's a freak of nature, and there's not much to be done about it, other than also be born as a freak of nature, like MvdP.
