So the late starts for Visma and Uno-X in the Vuelta Feminina were due to Movistar (ahead of them) turning up late for their mandatory bike check. Visma filing a formal complaint. Seems mad that nobody doing the admin was alert to what was happening.

I like a good TTT. When they're done well they can be a thing of beauty. When done wrong they can be hilarious.

I'm not commenting on the Vuelta feminine btw. I'm on a train at the moment. Will watch when I get home.

Agreed. Pretty sure there was one from the height of the Movistar (men) infighting days where they genuinely appeared to be attacking each other

My Woman Emma Norsgaard doing a fantastic job there for her.

She has a wonderful new podcast, La Course de Gossip, with Floortje Makaj, which I'm thoroughly enjoying. The recent episode was really intriguing talking about body image, the pressure to be thin, saddle sores in tricky places, periods etc. I found it eye-opening. And Emma is literally adorable.

I was more thinking of him dragging Martinez along with him and giving him a bigger gap over Vine, as it is it didn't really matter Martinez had a very good TT to hold on to second in the overall.

One-two on the GC as well, which is worth over 4 times the UCI points as the 4 stage wins.
They also had three stage 2nd places, so all in all a decent race, earning just over the UCI points that Simone Velasco won for them with his 4th place in Liege-Bastogne-Liege

And Cees Bol and Max Kanter take a 1-2 in the Ardennes race

He's still only 21 so there should be plenty of room for improvement. Probably a touch too small to really threaten the main GC riders, though Remco isn't exactly a giant (still a good inch taller than Lenny). I'd say that a lot will go down to how good his recovery is and the ability to maintain form into the third week. He could do real damage in a MTF loaded third week at his weight if he isn't burnt out by the first fortnight.

I was impressed by how smooth much of his TT was today, despite him clearly pushing it on the cornering.

Yeah, I reckon 3rd step GT podium is within the realms of possibility and a Vuelta win in a year when the big boys didn't show up ready isn't just fantasy. Especially now he's out of Madiot's sticky grasp. Let Gaudu do the panachtastic great French hope stuff, Lenny should draw on his Spanish roots!

Need to keep him from the french press

Not so.

The late starts were due to there only being one bike checker, who was failing to get all 7 bikes for a team checked within the 3 minute interval between starts, with any extra time taken delaying the start of the next team's checks.

Movistar were late, but the accumulated delay meant they still had to wait before their bike check started.
Movistar only just made the start, and Uno-X waited for their 7th rider and started a bit late (7 - 10 sec).

An extra bike checker was brought out, but not in time to help Visma.
