All that discussion about some whether retired ski-jumper in the break was going well or not and yet again you all miss the important stuff. Viking Superboy Albert Withen Philipsen lead his group across the line in 17th place, limiting his loss to the big GC group (Nordhagen, Martinez etc.) to just 23". They'd been quite a way behind at one point.

Commentators seemed to suggest AWP was struggling on the climb bigly.

Give me their names. I'll hunt them down for re-education.

(To be fair, AWP is probably going to develop towards the classics - if there's even such a thing as a classics rider anymore)

He's super young still?

Yes, but he's a six footer (184cm) at age 19 ( not twenty until September) so already taller than almost all the GC riders (Jorgenson and Gee excepted and he's got a solid TT and MTB background. Won Paris-Roubaix Espoirs last year at 18, robbed of the Paris-Roubaix Jnrs the year before by the Commisaires (entered the velodrome solo, caught by a group that went way off the blue round the end, easily took 5-10m off their distance but they got away with it) so looks comfortable on cobbles. But he's got a top ten at Amstel this year and Eschborn-Frankfurt last year, and podiums at Tre Valli Varesine and Paris-Tours, so he's definitely got a bit of the puncheur about him as well, and he can get up a climb.

Could still head toward GC but that feels like it might be Seixas territory in his generation (born within 3 weeks of each other), so could be looking to play MvdP to Seixas's Pogacar?
