You would think some might want a rest day or two after completing the TDF last Sunday!

Carapaz was throwing all kinds of shapes in the last 10k. Remco was rock solid

To be fair, the man wrestles a bike with the best of them even when he's on a good day. Top rider, but he's never been what you'd call a stylist, and has been known to enact the "call an ambulance / but not for me!" meme in stage finales every now and then

That's part of panache isn't it? If you're going to go up a mountain at speeds most of us would struggle to maintain on the flat, at least have the common decency to make it look like you're turned inside out doing so.

It has come to my attention that the French overseas Departement of Guadeloupe has a 2.2 stage race.
The race comprises of no less than ten stages (two are ITTs), with a total of 1224.2 kilometers to be raced.
For an island territory with a population of 378,561 this is remarkable.

What's even more remarkable, in my eyes, is that the two main islands of Guadeloupe (which will have all stages between them) comprise an area of just 1,435km². That's:

  • 221km² smaller than the Isle of Skye
  • Les than four Isle of Wights
  • About two and a half Isle of Mans
  • 134km² smaller then Greater London
  • 2 Angleseys
  • And in the SI units we all understand, just over 1/15th the size of Wales

Ten stages. Ten. Whole. Stages.
In fairness, they do seem to have a decent mountain to work with, but anyway.

This Tour of Denmark stage is terrible. Reminds me of crit I did in the early 90s on Wincanton bypass just before it was open to traffic that went up one side, turned at a roundabout, down the other side and around another roundabout to complete the first of what felt like a thousand laps.
