44.4kph is difficult to comprehend. That’s a 6% increase on last year’s record.

How long a gap do you have to have to keep him at bay? 50 rider break but having to ride full on all day and together. He can attack from 100km out and solo or he and the team may be able to chase the break down.

I was only listening on and off, not watching, but I don't think Pog had to do a lot of full on work to close that gap. I thought it was down to his teammates (and EF at times I think) working hard and the leading group not cooperating well.

It was fast and the lead group not cooperating makes the speed gained more salient
