Too fast & flat around Jubilee Tower, the steep bit is further back. Waddy Fell more promising I think, but they'll need to fix the tarmac on the descent

Yes I agree, the steep bit on Jubilee tower is quite short. They are going up the Trough the easy way but the descent is steep and narrow. Waddy is a longer slog. The road conditions all through Bowland are dreadful and will make a mess of expensive Pinarellos, the council must be up for some resurfacing. Also part of the road after the trough is slipping down the hill! Waddy would be decisive if it’s not going to end in a sprint as it’s very flat with just the dimple of Parbold after that.

Any details about the Femmes route yet? Leeds to Manchester is going to be quite close to us. A direct route would take it within a couple of miles, but I suspect they'll want to head north and west to the Wharfe valley following the 2014 route which will be a lot more picturesque. Then south instead of turning north at Skipton.

Top work! I remember seeing that and thinking someone had made a bit of an effort 🙂 Definitely got picked out by the commentary team on TV2 as well (not that there was all that much to talk about in those stages....)

I did not know I had achieved international stardom. 😁😁

If it's anything like the Tour of Britain, the council may not yet realise all the implications of what they've signed up for. One council's "cycling champion" cabinet member was under the impression that the Tour of Britain racers would be using one medium-size car park and the 3m-wide riverside cycleway and was quite shocked when told she'd effectively been pushing for closing the market square, half the start town's central streets and a major arterial road for half the day! Not details people, some local government cabinets...

Agreed, it looks they couldn’t wait to get out of Scotland soon enough. South of the Central Belt has its charms but nothing like the fabulousness of north of it.

Somewhat crucially, that would necessitate at least one lengthy transfer. The transfers on this route are manageable, thanks in part to stages 2 and 3 being very long. Indeed, there have only been 2 stages longer than stages 2 and 3 this decade.

Yes indeed and given the ‘flavour’ of Lancashire CC I suspect they didn’t realise it involved bikes…

I've already started camping out on Caerphilly Mountain in the hope that the race will climb this just before Cardiff. All I have to do now is to get my wife to knit me a mankini and I'll be ready to join the crowd of  Nutters fans running up the hill and getting in the riders' way.

100 climbs guy had some screen grabs from the presentation and was suggesting that Stage 2 goes to Bradwell, up Winnats, Glossop, over the Snake then maybe Strines

Snake is definitely confirmed rom the Tdff blurb they released, so Id presume the rest is also good info sourced, I mean it follows alot of the route of TDF2014 so its known territory so to speak.

I guess the question would be if theres a map at the big reveal, why werent the stage routes confirmed then at the same time ? like we know the London stage will just be a RideLondon duplicate.

I have to admit my initial excitement has turned to disappointment. Yes, technically, Scotland is hosting the actual Grand Depart but it is now clear that our role is going to be very marginal. We’re not even allowed the stage finish. That Prudhomme chose to host his press conference 300 miles away in another country speaks volumes. This is going to be no showcase for us.
