Looks an awesome route, stage 1 maybe a bit standard but given the constraints of starring in Leeds and finishing in Manc, 3 climbs and a sprint finish expected, Give a sprinter chance for yellow for day which they surely wont retain on ...
Stage 2 is a cracking / brutal day with whatever group that has stayed at the front exploding on Jenkin road
and a rarely seen TTT round London for Stage 3.

Stage 2 is what I wish the TDF did, so I'm beaming
Winnat's Pass is a brutal climb, but then the ride across the plateau to Chapel en le Frith will look stunning from a helicopter.
Snake Pass is my all time favourite climb to ride, and is a wonderful road to drive, so the fact the Tour de France is going over it is a dream come true.
Again, Ladybower Reservoir from a helicopter will look stunning, and then they take a left and go across Strines Moor to Bradfield.
Then it's the same last 20 km or so that the men did in 2014, and we all know how good that was from a sporting perspective.

More me completely misreading the map and thinking they were doing Leeds to Sheffield via Manchester on day then doing the same in reverse the next. Serves me right for trying to read detail on my phone before my eyes have started working for the day
In the absence of a proper detailed route I've been trying to plot the route for the first section of Stage 1 out of Leeds.
This is my best guess so far based on the description and dragging via points around in Cycle.travel to make it match the shape of the roads on the not very detailed map. So it may well be inaccurate, but is probably better than Gemini AI's effort which had them going via Ulaanbataar! (maybe a slight exaggeration)
For the parade bit it says they'll start on the Headrow and do a partial loop of the city centre, so I guess they'll start in front of the Town Hall then heading east, and south on either Briggate or Vicar Lane. Probably then head west on Boar Lane and Wellington St. Not clear from the map but looks like they might get onto Burley Road and then turn north on Hyde Park Road past Woodhouse Moor to Headingley. Then the riders take a left down the hill past Headingley Stadium and to the river at Kirkstall. Looks like they'll start the race proper round here, maybe on Kirkstall Bridge.
From here the shape suggests they'll head up the hill toward Bramley, then turn left along Town St and Henconner Lane. It seems then the route will be along Tong Road past the Beulah, then joining Whitehall Road and passing through Drig. Left at Birkenshaw then a dogleg from Birstall to Gomersal. The route around Liversedge, Heckmondwike and down to Mirfield is a bit of guesswork. The so-called Côte de Kirkheaton is most likely from Lower Hopton heading west.
