The roads around there look a bit busy especially on a Bank Holiday weekend. I'm too lazy to get the maps out and have a serious gander, so tell me, which bike should I take?

I'm not a MBer but do a lot of road cycling around there. The main road Bamford-Castleton will be quite busy I guess. But there are loads and loads of quiet lanes close to Bamford. Beware you are in real climbing territory there but the cycling is spectacular.
PM me if you want some route advice. I'll be over there on Saturday in all probability

Either bike really but whatever you do you WILL do some climbing and then some....

If you can't be bothered doing much preparation I suggest the road bike but if you do pull your finger out and do a bit of research this is fantastic MTB country.

I'm not going to do your homework for you!

Thanks both! I guess I'd better get the 1:25,000 map out and have a look for a nice quiet climbey road ride then.

Blimey, are you trying to kill him?
Tis Ok, he has 24hrs to complete the challenge. More than enough time, even allowing for a few mid-ride REST BREAKS

He is fitter than me and I have done a lot more than that!

I will be doing the Holme Moss/Snake Pass double on the way down to visit my niece in Nottingham later in the month and will also be tackling the climbs from Greetland and Slaithwaite the same day. I came back over Strines Moor and Scapegoat Hill the last time I went to Sheffield - Ewden Bank is a tough little climb!

Phew, looks like I shall actually be walking tomorrow, though why anybody would want to walk when God gave us bicycles is beyond me....
