24mm vs 22mm

Is there any actual difference? Or is it all hype? Anyone switched between the two and noticed a difference?

Received wisdom/BS has it that 25 mm is better in every way these days...

Think of it more as a 10% increase/decrease in tyre volume (approximately). Then it starts to make sense.
That's a better way of looking at it. The tyre's profile means that the contact patch is the same on a 25mm as on a 23mm but you're floating on a bigger cushion of air.

At the same pressure. That diagram is crap.

The 25m will give a slightly cushier ride than a 23mm as you can run 25mm at a lower pressure. The same was said some years back when 20mm became 23mm as the desired choice. It's probably down to our roads being crap. I used to TT on 18mm Tubs !!! Tiny !!

Tell Continental about it I only posted What I'd found on the subject......:banghead:
