Having just completed The Way of the Roses ride, plus a side trip to Scarborough and various other smaller excursions from the route, I managed 250 miles in 4 days. This morning I got on the scales, fully expecting to be somewhere nearer my target weight of 12 stone - but no; I have GAINED about 3 pounds, WTF?
Then I thought about what I had eaten whilst on the road, oops.. Steak, cooked breakfasts x 3, pork pie, KFC, pizza, chinese, fish and chips, beer, plus the odd chocolate bar or 3.. Oh well, back to porridge and chicken soup for a while :okay:. I have always struggled to lose weight by cycling; it just makes me hungry - and having suffered from "the bonk" just once, it is not something I want to do again, so I err on the side of caution! :hungry:

You cannot outrun or outcycle a bad diet, trust me I have tried.

Hope you enjoyed the ride and the grub.

My calibration was that a reasonable meal (spag bol (light on the bol), rice pud & fruit salad, a couple of bananas) is worth about 50 miles at a reasonably brisk pace (3 hours).
That's based on 15 meals in 3 days, with no weight change detected.

I'd be inclined to blame BEER and nibbles

Does sound like a great ride. I've fancied doing the way of the roses for a while but it's the logistics of getting to the start that has put me off so far (nothing to do with all the hills:whistle:).
