26x1.95 tyre, can you fit different width trainer tyre?

Hi.

My bike has a 26x1.95 tyre. It is knobbly so not ideal and noisy on the turbo trainer. If I change the tyre does it need to be 1.95inch to fit? Do different widths fit on the same rim?

There seems to be no trainer tyres this size? Could I use a slick regular tyre? I dont do huge mileage.

You could probably fit a slick like the Conti Contact Speed - can get 26" x1.6 or 26" x 2

What about a Schwalbe City Jet tyre? They aren't knobbly and they will fit a 26" MTB rim.

You can put on any 559mm tyre so long as it will fit between the forks.

Yes - regular tyre of similar width will be fine. Cheap as you like. You're not going to slip in a corner or wear it out.

Decathlon do a turbo trainer tyre for 26" wheels that should work but it won't be 1.95" wide.
