This clashes with the London Marathon, so we'll be starting at the Albert Memorial from 9:30am - leaving at about 9:45 as usual.

I'll be checking the route again tomorrow, but it's an easy ride, flat and about 22 miles.
If you are planning to visit the Museum, there are bike stands at the entrance (typical U-stands), but not many of them, so bring a decent lock.

If you don;t want to visit the Museum, there is a section of the original banking in the adjacent park, which is quite mossy and spooky looking, we can visit it before heading for the park.

I'm planning to take a route out via Richmond and Bushy parks to allow us to socialise a bit and then ride back via the Thames Path through Hampton Court and Kingston. Parts of this route are un-pathed tightly packed gravel - but I was perfectly fine on 700x28c with mudguards. We pass close to Weybridge station on the way back for those wanting to take the train home.

Did my second recce today. Two completely new routes and I think I've got a really nice route planned out. It will include a lot of tie path riding, but it's so much nicer than the road, with great views and very little pedestrian traffic. As a super bonus, it includes a ferry crossing!
I know this is a bit of a Fridays tradition, but this is only £2. The boat can take 4 bikes and it's only five minutes so it's not going to cause too much disruption.
There are a couple of places for toilet stops as well.
Really looking forward to this now.

Sorry to miss this (I'll be in France), but would be interested to see your new route, so I can borrow it for a Central London CTC ride.

There will be a few people from work who want to join, including one pair who seem to only want to join the return leg!
So, we won't be billy no mates-ing our way out of town.

The two routes I was planning on taking are variants on the same theme.

From Albert Memorial we would head along Fulham Road, cross Putney Bridge and then make our way to Richmond Park, from there we’d take a diversion through Teddington, across the river by the lock and then through Bushey Park. After a short ride along the river we’ll take a ferry across (£2 per person and bike), follow the Thames Path for a bit and work our way through Molesey avoiding Walton on Thames and Weybridge before turning off to Brooklands Road and making our way to the Museum.

Edited to add that museum entry cost £16, although it's cheaper online bought in advance.

The return route will be much more of a bimble along the Thames, deliberately avoiding main roads as much as possible, but once again crossing Richmond Park and then making our way past Barnes Wetland centre along the river to Putney before crossing the bridge and heading East towards the Museum. I’ll abandon everyone close to Albert Bridge, but will be expecting people to be making their way home from there.

We are aiming to arrive at the Brooklands Museum in time for lunch.
Leaving at about 5pm for the return journey.

There are a few places we can stop for a loo break.
Remember to bring some food and drinks, bring a spare inner tube or two and don’t forget £2 for the ferry crossing.

This is as a social ride amongst friends. It’s not an “organised ride” so you are responsible for your own safety.
We won’t leave anyone behind, but please make sure your bike is in good working order.

I’ve ridden these routes a few times and it’s all perfectly fine on a road bike on 700 x28c and just as much fun on a mountain bike with slick 26” tyres.

Hi your ride sounds fab. Is it open to slow riders? I normally do 9 miles per hour , can i join ? No worries if it is for faster riders

I would always aim to be inclusive on a social ride. I suspect at least one of the people from work will also be quite slow. At worst we can put the faster folk to work way marking!

Ah, didn't realise we wouldn't be back until late. I need to make some arrangements.
I won't be able to be that late back either @AlexB . So, I plan to ride down with you and then turn for home before lunch. I can go directly across country from Brooklands. Cheers.

I'm in the same boat here, will ride down and then back pretty much straight away after a quick bite
