Him, I have heard of. Not terribly up on cricketers but he was so famous even I know who he is. It was the Botty thing that threw me

I remember standing outside my local pub wearing baggy pleated trousers and white shoes,quite fashionable at the time. A mate of mine had a souped up Ford Anglia parked in front of the pub(flames painted coming from the wheels and all that stuff),that's all i remember of the day.

I was working in a hotel at the time, the bar was packed and can remember folks kept shouting us through to watch the telly

Back in those days I had little interest in either weddings or the Royal Family. I recall going for a ride around the Cotswolds. Contrast to William and Katherine's big day when I sat glued to the telly for the whole thing

Was in Hong Kong, we had a party on the jetty below the apartment. Halfway through the party, the spring tide covered the jetty. It was rather surreal walking on the submerged jetty - had to watch out for the edge. No TV, just a classic BBQ and alcohol fest.

Oh, and on the day in question, I was on holiday in Cleethorpes with my parents.

I managed to ignore much of the utter nonsense by trying to get a girl who lived up the road to be my girlfriend for the week.

I was refurbishing a Mini 1275GT at the time. I spent the day spraying a new driver's door for it. Try as I might, I never quite got that door to match the rest of the car.....

British Leyland never quite managed it either.
