It does indeed look nice. On the subject of 3 Grand its just a roundabout figure. Having said that that I am not prepared to blow too much more of my lump sum on a bike however attractive the proposition is. It will still be piloted by a 57+ year old who in his wildest dreams would never be able to do the £3000 machine justice let alone a more expensive one. It is a slightly frivolous purchase, but only slightly. I'll live without electronic shifting for the time being,

Interestingly UBYK has this for a smidge under £4000, but my next door neighbour has one, minus electronic shifting. Says it's very light but if he's honest the ride is harsh, also it doesn't pick up speed anything like as quickly as my Ridley, so a more expensive bike might not necessarily be right for me. I want light with a good ride. I'm not going to pander to the industry's categorising of bikes as race/sportive etc. if it's the right one, it'll do. Do have a hankering for this though. With manual shifting I might add.

You don't have to spend anywhere near £3K. Take a look at Rose 2015 bikes. For around £1600 you can buy a Xeon CRS 3000, spec very similar to the Orro above. I wouldn't worry about doing justice to the bike either. I'm 67 and bought a Xeon CRS3000 last year. The higher spec and the lighter the better for me - I need all the help I can get! Why not? Have fun! After all as my wife said, 'it may be the last bike you buy' (). Why should we be condemned to riding 'sensible' heavyweights as we get less young?

Some of the above look a little on the 'aggressive ride' side of things, if Seat to Bar drops are anything to go by ?

I have been "spending" my compensation from an accident I had earlier this year even though I have not even got an idea of how much it will be or when I will get it! I really like the look of the Wilier cento uno air, but they are supposed to be a harsh ride.

I also like the Merida reacto:

But at the end of the day I still like my Wilier Gran Turismo that I crashed! I know it is comfortable to ride 200, miles a day and I still think it is a stunning design although it is a few years old. I may just end up getting (better) new wheels, fitting an internal seat post battery and fixing the DI2 issues.



But I also like my early 90s steel frame Battaglin!



So many choices, but I can only ride them one at a time!

That Wilier certainly looks the part. Bit on the aggressive side for my needs though.
