Supposed to be the amount collected every year. Really ? That is about a half ton for every man woman and child in the country. 1120 lbs each
My contribution will be 0lbs. Probably the same for everyone else on here.
So who are all the filthy buggers lobbing out over 3lbs of rubbish each and every day?

Does this include restaurants, shops and industry?

I took it to mean all the rubbish swept up from the streets. Who weighs all this stuff anyway?

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Lots of rubbish is being thrown by.....people in cars. I see it all, the time here. In lay bys people stop, throw they're rubbish out, then drive off.

All waste will be weighed at done stage to calculate recycling credit or land fill charge. No doubt the wagon or trolley loads will be weighed as a matter of course.

Having seen how lax so many people are about their recycling, I'm not surprised by litter. A huge number of people simply don't give a toss.

It's possible the figure includes fly tipping, which can involve large quantities.

Our upstairs neighbour is currently running a campaign of removing recycling from the shared bin and dumping it by our door. So I'm blaming her for all the ills of the world.

Sadly the problem is now more prevalent in my French locality although minute by British standards. It's chucked from cars, most commonly cigarette packets then snack wrappers. Sometimes I pick it up, sometimes I carefully put it in a position to be seen by all and sometimes I am going too fast to do anything. Picnic areas are almost always left spotless although I did find a banana skin in one once.

littering is a pet hate of mine. Especially early on a Sunday morning when the city centre is peppered with pizza boxes, burger and kebab trays all over the place. It's a town centre and one is never more than say 5 or 10 yards away from a bin... so why can't they use them???

There's little chance for the future if people can't even take responsibility for their half eaten pizza today.

Fag ends outside pubs also annoys the heck out of me... it should be the landlords responsibility to sweep the pavement outside because it's their punters dropping all the fag ends.

I was once cycling in South London when I saw a Macdonalds bag come out the side of a convertible BMW. I could also see a set of red lights and a queue of traffic much further up.

I picked up said Macdonalds bag and lobbed it back into it's associated convertible BMW as I went past. Needless to say I left the scene quite hurriedly, but it did put a smile on my face for the rest of the day...

Naturally that's exactly what I did that in my mind... However, in reality I was cycling through an area not far from Brixton, and possible confrontation with knives or guns did cross my mind, so I thought I should probably undertake the deed in the fastest way possible!

Come to Sheffield it's easy to walk over 100 yards without nearing a bin. In fact sad that it is i actually count how far it is if I have something to throw away
