Evening you lot - may I cordially invite you to either of the events that I'm organising from Newby Wiske, North Yorkshire on Saturday the 29th of April 2017.

There's the 300, which is a tough ride and perfect training for London-Edinburgh-London (same distance you need to cover per day, plus all those roads you'll miss on LEL), and Don't Keep to the Road, the 100 km part-offroad event which wouldn't be any good whatsoever for LEL training, no matter how much fun you had on it...

The proceeds from both events will go to the Alzheimer's Society.

And I route checked the 300 on Friday - no changes to report, it's still a great route. I don;t think I'll ever tire of it - there's an ever-changing landscape, from the flatlands of the Vale of York to the gnarly ins-and-outs around the Howgills and the big, big skies in the Dales.

It was a damn fine ride, apart from a perma-headwind all the way from Boroughbridge to Sedbergh, a howling north-westerly, which I was quite looking forward to having over my shoulder from Folly Top to Darlo, but I rode into a weather front near Roger Moore Farm, and the damn thing swung around.

I didn't take any hip young audaxers with me today, so all my photos are of hills and empty roads and shoot like that.
