If you bought the ali version you'd get a better group set, so do you really need the monocoque frame? It's your call.
carbon fibre or aluminium... so weight...Being a bit dumb here but if you don't ask you'll never find out,so what's the difference between a monocoque frame and others?
Hardly anyone repairs a crash damaged frame anyway, no matter what it's made from. The cost of the repair and a decent respray means you would well consider just buying a new one.Sorry, I should have explained "monocoque" is a term usually applied to aircraft or cars where the structure is integral with body but is also refers to a bike frame of carbon fibre where it forms the " chassis" (the thing that holds everything together). An Ali bike is made from different pieces joined together but a Monocoque is made in one piece, one structure. A Carbon frame is both lighter and stiffer than Ali or steel so is preferable if you are trying to squeeze out every last ounce for performance. It can also be easily profiled for better aerodynamics. Through mass production it is no longer the preserve of professionals so most can benefit from its properties. The only real downside is it's very difficult to repair if badly damaged in a crash.
