I got my first brand new bike and started to ride it 4 weeks ago today.
In the last four weeks I have managed to do just over 330 miles getting gradually faster, ticking off first 10 then 20 then 30 milers.

I have also managed to somewhere along the line loose just over 7kg ( which is just over a stone )
getting me under 100kg for the first time in 10 years.
I have personally gained a great deal of motivation from reading the stories of others and realised that it was just as hard/bad for them as I was feeling, if you are new and reading this I didn't believe I would ever write anything like this.
I have found something I really love doing and hope that in a couple of years I can read this again and laugh about how I thought 30 miles was a big deal

Dave, you and I share quite a few similarities. I got my new bike on 13th September. It's taken me an extra couple of weeks to reach the 300 mile mark, but I'm pretty happy with that. You're a couple of weeks ahead on the weight loss too - I've lost about 11lb so not quite a stone yet. Apparently, I weigh 99.68kg, so am also under the 100kg for the first time in a good few years.

I haven't got near 30 miles yet though - I've done 27 in a day, but that's with good breaks in between trips. I think you must have had a starting fitness level a good deal higher than mine!

You've also been a great source of motivation as a target to chase. I like to think that you are in some way conscious of me slogging away behind you on my big fat hybrid, and that I in turn motivate you to stay ahead. Don't stop. Don't even slow down. I'm waiting.

Here's to many more miles!

I forgot to add - 4 weeks? Cracking progress fella!
