Hello and :welcome:
It's usually considered bad form to cross-post like that, it starts to look like spam.
I expect the Mods will merge the threads in due course. As you can imagine, it leads to a bit of a disjointed discussion otherwise!
Challenges...well, everything's a challenge to someone. First metric century (100km) first imperial century (100 miles) first night ride, first tour, we've all got to / had to face them at some point.
I can't begin to imagine how I'd prepare for a 4000 mile ride though!!

@thedoctor - Thank you for the advice - glad I've learnt about posting. Yet to do my first 100 miler, just started road cycling but loving it and want to set myself some goals like first 100 miler. Long way to go but enjoying trainingat the moment. And sorry. @snorri The guys are from the uk and appear to have previous experience with crazy ultras. Looks like its for charity. Think I'll keep tracking them see how they get on. Will be interesting to see if they can do what they have set out to do.

I'm new to forums and didn't realise u should only post in one section. I wanted to talk to people about this as I'm new to road biking so wanted to see if it was a challenge that could be done in the 8-9days they were looking to do. Sorry but I wasn't aware of forum etiquette but I am now as several people have explained it to me. Wasn't trying to annoy anyone - just didn't really know how they worked - sorry

S'okay Abby - no harm done. Don't be surprised if it all of your posts are merged together in one thread at some stage soon. That's normal practice on forums too.

And welcome

Looks like they are doing it as a relay with each cyclist aiming to cycle 112 miles each in 6hours over 8-9days. Is that more plausable?

The top two 4-man teams in last year's RAAM bettered 500 miles a day (517 and 508) for 3000 miles. The other 23 teams were slower or didn't complete the event.

So, it's possible, but more probable that they will fail.

It looks to me as though its the sort of challenge only possible for professional riders to complete in that time frame, to keep up that sort of pace over such a long distance would be extreme even for them, but people can do amazing things when the motivation is right. Its certainly gonna take some organising. Good luck to them. Ive saved the link to their site and look forward to keeping an eye on how they get on.

Just a guess, but I'd hazard that Abby knows these chaps rather better than "So doing my usual road biking news search I came across 4 amateur cyclists looking to cycle".

Yes, from one of the other forums I see one response saying that Abby is the partner of one of the riders. Shame really, it's undoubtedly a grand adventure.... but one that's being pitched a little too enthusiastically. Those tactics don't win friends.
