Yeah, they got their plebs to carry their stuff about. I just get my manservant to cycle for me now, racking up my Strava achievements while I flog my scullion joyously.

Oooeerrr missus!

1940s weekends are an annual thing at a couple of venues locally and there seem to be plenty of followers.
Very good weekends even for just Joe Public, they usually have WW2 vehicles, tanks, a massive beer tent, shows and bands, a market stall affair with tones of clothing....its a big thing round here (in the Fens)
The sound of a heavy german machine gun barking away is awesome (that always gets peoples interest)

We were in Gatwick airport a few years ago and they had a female band, young women dressed immaculately1 in 40s wear, their singing was absolutely awesome.

Its not for me (dressing up in 40s gear) but poeple seem to love that era.

It was one of the appeals of the 'Peggy Carter' series, after her appearance in Captain America :First Avenger

Well, okay, Hayley Atwell was the main appeal:wub:

We once stumbled across one of those - in the Fens, I think it was. They didn't have a machine gun, but every hour, or maybe half hour, they started up a massive engine - I think it was from a Lancaster. That was pretty impressive...certainly very loud!

If anyone's been to East Kirkby Air Museum (near RAF Coningsby), & seen their Lancaster, you can stand practically under wingtips, as all 4 Merlins are started
It's an absolutely marvellous experience to see, hear, & (very literally) feel (due to the exhaust pressure waves)
