I had same op in November - 3 discs taken out of my neck and the gaps filled with bone grafts from my hip. Should have been 4-5 days and a few weeks off, was 7 weeks in hospital and no sign of going back to work anytime soon - and driving and cycling verboten (not that that stopped me very slowly pootling around the local lanes on my Ridgeback hybrid).

But, given my username, I also build radio control aeroplanes - so I started a biggie (2.9m wingspan) New Year's Day - should be ready to fly end of March - if they'll let me drive to the flying field that is! Occupational Therapist said it would be good for my hands.

I am thinking of buying one of those eliptical strider thingys as they are low/no impact and I can feel myself getting fatter! at least I can move about while watching tv then...

No it's just a large titanium T-plate with several long screws. It's part of a high tibial knee osteotomy when they more or less break the tibia and open it up slightly to straigten the leg and put the weight onto the good side of the knee joint. The plate is coming out in June I think. I can't wait as it feels weird. Supposed to be a minor operation, I hope so as I would hate another wasted summer 2 years in a row.

Ooer.... makes my little concerns seem so small in comparison.... just back from seeing a consultant about my Baker's cysts, he tells me they're fairly usual in people over 50 and to stop worrying about them. Fair dos.

Just chatting to my ex colleague (some of you will remember she rides a Pinarello and is rather easy on the eye) on messenger and she is just getting into Clint Eastwood movies... So being the geeks we are I am going to do her a spreadsheet with all the best ones and order it for her in order that she should watch them and include brief synopsis and ratings.

should keep me busy till tea time.

I borrowed both series of Catweazle from my sister last autumn: my niece will soon be staying here for a week, so I'm trying to get through all 26 episodes so she can take them back with her.

It feels like five weeks' worth of watching, but great to see the old programme again!
