I remember on a club ride there was a sharp right hand bend on a country lane. I was near the front of the pack which was spread out and took the turn at about 16mph. After the turn, I heard a large bang and a scraping sound. I looked behind me to find a cyclist sliding across the ground into a ditch.
Everyone stopped immediately and we all went to the rescue of the fallen team mate. He had a slight cut on his knee but the bike was fine. He spent a little time sat on the ground to gather himself back together and then we continued the ride at a slow pace.
I gave him some tissue that I had in my saddlebag for him to mop up his blood.
The road wasnt wet but there was a bit of gravel on the road so I suspect he slipped on that.

I have never been in or seen a collision involving cyclists on the club run though.

That sounds properly painful. Heal soon.

I've been down in the middle of the pack twice, wheel touches, I've seen a couple of other incidents, one serious, its unpleasant.

So, club training run small line at 20 mph, all of a sudden lad in front seems to slow, hit the front brake and nothing! Clip his wheel and I'm flat on my back in the road. Beano jacjet riped at the elbow, curved burn on my shil and lots of grazing. Shaken and hurty. Just back from getting cleaned-up and checked-over at A&E.
Very hurty now, need to go beddy-byes as up early to fly to Dublin.
First fast off for about 30 years or so, so not bad in that respect.
Too tired for photos.

Ouch! Hope it looks a bit better in the morning.

I'm in Dublin from tomorrow night for a couple of days. Give me a shout if you need corroboration of the seriousness of your injuries!
Bugger! I'm already back home.... you're not in Dusseldorf tomorrow?

Photos will follow!

Thanks all. Very hurty this morning especially my hands which has made it difficult doing stuff like getting ready this morning. The rest of the family were away for the night so I struggled on alone
Getting-up early to get to the airport didn't help either. My meeting notes were a scrawl. Still I'm alive and a lesson learned ^_^

It all sounds rather painful. At those sort of speeds, it could have been very much worse, so I'm glad you're not worse off. And the bike of course!

May the road rash heal swiftly.
