After a couple of entertaining games, made even sweeter by the devastation on English faces, the scores are as follows:

Me: 2
@User1314: 2
@Marmion: 4
@biggs682: 4
@Brandane: 4
@GrumpyGregry: 4
@Lullabelle: ... You didn't really make any predictions but if England win the competition you'll get 4. You're welcome to put scores for future games, as is anyone else.

As I forgot about the Triple Crown, and it's still undecided, all participants so far can state a team for the chance of four glorious bonus points. Get your thoughts in before Scotland hump Ireland tomorrow!

Scotland will get a drubbing, they really need a Kiwi coach to sort them out, they are good they can win just not on a regular basis. They will have their day

Bit late to the party on this one so I'm only going to comment on tomorrow's game and I predict Ireland to win by 15 points.

Off who? A French or English side capable of one decent half of rugby? A mis-firing Wales or a stoic Italy? I'm aware these comments may come back to haunt me, but on today's evidence Scotland could beat any other team in the tournament.

Why do we need a Kiwi to sort us out?

@Bangers - if you put a score then you get an extra point if you're right.

We wuz robbed.

France were stronger than they have been for a while, Wales were scrappy. Ireland are generally a strong team, I wish Scotland a win they deserve it

So, who's giving us this drubbing you mentioned? And why do we need a Kiwi to coach us?
England were off their cobblers for the start, were lucky with the ball bouncing off the touch flag, and were outclassed in the last 5 mins. But it's all about 2015. innit. This team will take the French next year - the loss will be an important learning curve for a developing team
Agreed. I was pleased to see Lancaster have the balls to play such a young back line. If they gel before the World Cup, I fancy England's chances.

Was anyone else unconvinced that Brown had control over the ball for his try? I thought it slipped from his arm.

Also, I really hate the new set up they've got for the video ref. Watching a guy watching a screen and not describing his decision is rubbish.

The win will be the keystone for the developing team that is France. But I admire your patriotism. ;)

as a former, and not very good, ref...

You've been listening overmuch to Jiffy and his RL induced guff spouting. Even Pitbull used to get that one wrong until he got his ELRA.

Law 22
There are two ways a player can ground the ball:
(a) Player touches the ground with the ball. A player grounds the ball by holding the ball and
touching the ground with it, in in-goal. ‘Holding’ means holding in the hand or hands, or in
the arm or arms. No downward pressure is required.
(b) Player presses down on the ball. A player grounds the ball when it is on the ground in the
in-goal and the player presses down on it with a hand or hands, arm or arms, or the front of
the player’s body from waist to neck inclusive.

Nowhere do the Laws of Rugby Union mention control of the ball in the act of grounding it to score, or make it dead in goal. Counter-intuitive perhaps but dems de laws.

I'm not sure who Jiffy or Pitbull are, but thanks for the info!

When I played at school I was taught that you had to "be in control of a grounding". I had been playing a lie!!
