Club me and mine kids are at since, oooh, 2008, is a Catholic Club. Ok, it's secular as it's rugby but the critical mass of the parents and kids who founded it and play are from the local Catholic Schools. There's a lot of rich, independent Catholic Schools in my part of London alongside a couple of state ones, with a couple of the kids at the Oratory - the international non British lot get their kids into the private schools then play rugby for the club for the community thing and that team spirit makes it a tough cohesive club - the kids are fully committed and realise their potential. (Pleased to say my oldest more than holds his own in the side!)
60's and 70's. Lots of Catholics, of Irish descent, in the valleys and further west, across to Llanelli. Lots of bright boys who went to Uni, qualified as teachers and moved east. To teach, typically, RE or PE or Maths or any combination thereof, and most importantly, RUGBY UNION in the Catholic sector. Some of the values are complimentary.
