Hey Guys, I'm looking for suggestions of the "who makes" kind of?
I'm looking for 700 x 30 tyres for my recently acquired old Mercian road/light touring bike?
I've put a pair of Specialized Burough 32s on, but I've no room for guards, the Boroughs are a big 32.. more like 34 across actually. The old boy came with 28s fitted but they're a harsh ride over the rough stuff.
I've only found Schwalbe Spicers on amazon so far for under twenty quid but they're rather slick looking.
Also anybody know of a skinnyish set of guards to squeeze in?

I'll probably have to splash out again and buy a more recent tourer as well... maybe keep the Mercian for dry days around home while I buggr off to Thailand.. if I can wangle it?
I went to Spa cycles to have a shot of their steel and Ti tourers recently, the Ti felt great, the 753 steel one felt harsh, I did take them a bit off path mind you.
I also like the Surly LHT and Disk Trucker ..in a 58cm... they've got the best prices around from what I've seen, pondering disks or mini V's as well?
I've never actually cycled with any serious luggage yet, I'm hoping my dodgy knees will warm to the task?
I know i'm asking a lot of stuff here.. I'm hoping more experienced people might be able to hall me stop wasting dosh and going round in circles?
Cheers D

Think you might have to stick with 28c tyres if you want to fit guards. I find if you reduce the pressures a bit it will cope well with rough stuff. Don't know if you can buy 30c.

Conti Gatorskins are available in 32, and the other sizes come up small (26.8 for my 28s), though this will vary with rim width.
