70's icon Jane Birkin dies

The British born actress and singer Jane Birkin has died aged 76 from cancer.
Best known for her sexually explicit ballad 'J'taime' with her partner Serge Gainsborough. Banned in several countries, I'm sure everyone of a certain age remembers it. They were dubbed in Private Eye as Jane Firkin and Surge Forward.
She died at her home in Paris.

Quite a change from BITD when the head of Parlophone records that released it was jailed in Italy. The Pope hated it.

Apparently Gainsbourg wrote the song for his previous lover Bridgette Bardot.
The Birkin version was so overtly orgasmic that a rumour spread among French journalists that the couple had actually taped themselves having sex. Gainsbourg scoffed at the claim — if that were true, he said, Je T'Aime could never have been a single. It would have to be a long-playing record, at least.
