Good test for how much you like an era/year is to record the Fri(?) evening Top of the Pops repeats on BBC4 then watch them and estimate how many tracks you watch and how many you fast forward through. I'm at the point for the 1990's repeats that I'll just delete them straight away rather than fast forward through every track.
