Yenrod has got me thinking - Bolt completed his 100m in 9.58s, Hoy began his 2007 World Championsip Kilo final with 11.19s for the first 125m. Those are average speeds of 37.58km/h and 40.21km/h. Using the average speed (obviously ignoring acceleration), Hoy would have done an 8.95s.

We know it takes longer to accelerate on a bike, so could it be that over 100m a runner would win?

What, field test, bike on the athletics track side by side to Usain Bolt ?

That was a very fast race, not just from Usain Bolt who will rightly get all the kudos for it.

I know, it sounds ridiculous, but I suddenly realised I hadn't put the top on the sauce bottle properly. Don't you hate it when it goes all crusty round the neck?

Get a squeezy bottle, glass is so 2008.

Why not?! It would probably need a specially built track or one with enough safe run-off area at the end for Hoy - can't imagine riding round the curve at those speeds on a track bike!

Your average commuter plodder cyclist would be left for dust from the lights by UB or CH. Alternatively you're cycling along at 20mph and UB overtakes you . Awesome performance. Apparently he says he can run the 100m in 9.4secs. Time to give the opposition a head start......... Tyson Gay looked really pi55ed off having run 9.71secs.

That's part of the problem with being American. You are raised and trained to believe you are the best and no-one can touch you, so defeat is so much harder to stomach.

And didn't he make it look easy. Looking right and left then seemingly easing off! The man's a natural (I hope!)

He looks so relaxed, both in mind and movement, compared to the Gay. Can't help but feel that that's part of it.

9.58!!! I literally could not believe it! I never thought a human being would get near that time in my lifetime. And he's only 22 so he's got years of development ahead of him. What is he capable of? He is one supreme athlete and I take my hat off to him and thank him for leaving me breathless in excitement last night. What a hero!

Whenever I see these sprinters doing their stuff it all looks so impressive until I remember that a humble domestic cat could beat them:sad:

Sorry, I'll be off now.

Wow, it's good to see such athleticism and have no one instantly talk about drugs.

After all, Jamaica has had a robust and rigourous dug testing system in place . . . .

For the last couple of months . . .

When they have already caught five of the next generation of sprinters using illegal means.

But I'm sure this generation got good on rare talent alone.

Roll on the 400m - hope he gives it a go as I think he could be on with a real chance at smashing the current world record. I imagine that Michael Johnson would be totally gutted though.
