When I was at school we would type our code into a teletype which would spew out paper tape. That tape was fed into the actual computer. The computer spewed out some more paper tape that was read back into the teletype to show the output.We had a similar effort at Upper School, huge room, tons of computer stuff, bits of ticker tape spewed out that more than likely meant nothing to anyone. Probably more technology now in a greetings card that plays a tune when you open it.
