I ask on behalf of my neighbour......i have told him of the wonderous collective knowledge of CCrs.
He has a standard gas combi boiler that runs everything. For various reasons he wants to swap to electric.
The situation means that it MUST be wall mounted!!
He spoke to the company that does his contract serving but they only offer a floor mounted type.
So.........
To your collective knowledge, does such a thing exist ?

Google said they do
Electricity is more expensive per kWh, making it costlier to run despite its efficiency. If you run your electric boiler for 70 hours a month it'll cost you £285.60

Yes just google "wall hung electric boilers". becoming ever more popular especially where folks have solar panels and battery storage.

I suggest he then googles "decent electrician" to get one fitted.
the company that does his contract serving
is this just a service contract for the boiler he has (which will be irrelevant if he replaces it with a leccy one) or is he in some sort of rental or housing that has in house maintenance for all such stuff?

Re the contract, i 'think' its just the boiler.
Re the wall hung boiler.......i did try that without success. I will try again
thanks.

What do you mean by "swap to electric"?

If you mean an electrically heated boiler, the running costs will be eye-watering because electricity's about five times the price of gas. Or do you mean a heat pump, which is a competitive running cost compared with gas, but an entirely different kettle of fish to a boiler.

Wot, regardless of house size and weather temperature?

We use an electric boiler to supply heat to our paint stores at work. Gas and flames aren't allowed. This boiler is wall mounted and also supply's a hot water storage cylinder. The boiler isn't any good for instant hot water like a gas combi as it cannot heat the water quick enough. And yes they cost a fortune to run, but irrelevant at my work when looking at our energy intensive process,s

Presumably an adequately strong shelf would be the same as - "floor" wouldn't it?

As noted above, if he's thinking direct electric boiler, then that will cost roughly 4x what his current gas boiler does to operate.

Your neighbour needs a heatpump, installed externally. You can mount them on a wall, but it's much trickier than those on the floor and they need to be mounted sufficiently far away from the boundary.

Does he have any particularly good reason to move away from his current gas setup? He's going to spend a few thousand to replace a functional system and then spend a lot more day to day.

They are available. I saw one that was ~22kW, which is about the same as my old gas multipoint was.

Problem is not many properties have a 22kw power supply available. Most houses currently have 80 to 100amp supplies and 22kw is above that and thats without allowing for cooking, sockets and lights.
