Listening to the radio today it seems we are exploring exciting new ways to find the allusive cure.
So what do we think, will we find a genuine cure in our lifetime...or ever for that matter.
As a side note, my neighbours daughter stated some years ago, when asked what she wanted to do for work" that she wanted to cure Cancer"
We all felt that this was lovely in a patronising and resigned sort of way.
We patted her on the head and said good for you.
But she meant it. She had a plan, knew where to study, how to get there and want to specialise in.
Now a few years later she has achieved A Star in every GCSE (every one) and is tracking for exemplary A level grades. She has conditional offers from Oxford and Cambridge but seems keen on Durham as I understand it suits her long term goal..she even had an unconditional bursary offer from another uni.
Every day we see her across the street, books set out on the dining table...studying. She has cancelled her family summer holiday this year and wont be going skiing in march with her mates...all cancelled...by her...not her parents who have no idea where she gets her focus from.
If ever there was a hope, I feel it's the likes of her that will crack it.
