A few weeks back, in Leeds, I was forced off the road by a van. Guess who the van belonged to?

I was going to guess, but you gave away the answer. You should have made it a poll.

Anyway who is Tony Woodrup? Someone you know?

Tony Woodrup runs the eponymous cycle shop in Leeds. Probably the highest profile shop in Leeds, they even build frames and wheels. I've bought three bikes in there.

Perhaps he was trying to drum up some more trade?

Seriously though, hope you're okay.

Thanks for the heads up Michael. I'll be aware of the Woodrups van.

As Michael says, Woodrups is the best known Leeds 'proper' bike shop

Possibly top left. Dunno. Still a handy rogues gallery. Top right goes past me some evenings going so fast I feel as though I have stopped. I hate that.

Send them an e-mail and politely suggest they should think about how they drive around customers.

Haha, I might well do that. I might add a note about their inability to assemble a bike without scratching the frame and a further note about their inability to fix seized cable adjusters as well.

Woodrups are only Leeds' most famous bike shop if Bob Jacksons have been removed from the surface of the earth.

I do have a Woodrup, and it's a wonderful machine. Odd shop, mind.

Bob Jackson is a fine shop, but tucked away in Bramley and relatively small showroom area compared to the newly expanded Woodrup shop. The Bob Jackson staff are nicer to deal with though and  if I was having a bike built I'd definitely go there.

For any kid growing up on the east side of Leeds in the late 70s and early 80s, their Raleigh (probably a Chopper or a Grifter) simply had to be purchased from Drakes in Harehills. I see from doing a quick Google search that they're still there :-)
